Rising FLW Tour star looks to continue upward trajectory

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (January 11, 2018) – Bass Cat Boats recently announced the addition of FLW Tour pro Jeff Sprague to the company’s pro staff. The young Texas angler, a veteran of four Forrest Wood Cups and a former first responder, plans to run a Bass Cat Eyra on tour in 2018.

Sprague has worked his way up through the ranks gradually, starting off in the Costa Series as a co-angler, and then moving to the front of the boat, eventually following the same co-to-pro path on the FLW Tour. During the past two seasons on Tour, he finished 6th and 4th in the points race, including a personal best tour level pro finish of 3rd at Beaver Lake in April of 2016. This season he added dual 7th place finishes at the Potomac River and Lake Texoma en route to beating a wealth of veterans and superstars in the season-long challenge.

“We believe that Jeff’s early momentum is just a small showing of what he’s capable of,” said Bass Cat Tour Manager Kevin Short. “Jeff’s professionalism and potential were strong assets to adding him to the Bass Cat Family and we feel he fits well with the brand and with our staff.”

Sprague said that what first attracted him to Bass Cat is that it is still run by the founding family, and their attention to quality shines through in every boat. “First and foremost, I’m excited to be a member of the Bass Cat Family,” he said. “It’s not just about the boat. With this company, it’s all about service and craftsmanship, not just about sending another boat down the factory line.”

The 2018 FLW Tour schedule will feature a wide variety of waterways, including some – like Lake Okeechobee, Kentucky Lake and Lake St. Clair – that almost inevitably involve distant spots and pounding waves. Sprague believes that his Eyra will make him better able to compete on large waters.

“We make a lot of long runs on tour,” he explained. “This hull will allow me to go further and faster than any other boat on the market. That’s a big deal to me. It makes me an even stronger contender for the titles that we all compete for.”
